Kate Davies's debut book TAKING THE CAKE is about a good girl going wild—one of my favorite themes in romance! I had fun watching Mollie go through her journey with Cade. This sensual read is one of my top picks for 2006.

One of my most recent favorites was MUST LOVE MISTLETOE by Christie Ridgway. I was hooked from the first page. Christie did an amazing job with the characters, weaving in their past with their present in such a way that I couldn't stop reading. I was actually sneaking away and hiding in my office to finish the book!

I'd recommend THE DEVIL IN THE JUNIOR LEAGUE by Linda Francis Lee as it was very fun, very colorful, with an incredibly sexy male protagonist, great chemistry between the heroine and the hero, and a terrific cast of characters. Loved the story and I give it a big thumbs up.

I read in the bath- it's the only place I don't feel guilty that I'm not either a) writing, or b) cleaning the house.
I discovered Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series later than most, thanks to my teenage daughter reading them so avidly.
I realised something great had to have captured Leonie's attention to keep her from watching her favourite soaps- I was right.
I just adore these books- I guess you could say the heroine is so flawed you just have to love her. I particularly loved her honesty- who doesn't need a new pair of shoes?!
One of the real highlights of my reading year was Jane Porter's FLIRTING WITH FORTY. I love Jane as a person, so reading her books is a special pleasure for me. I've said this before and I'll say it again- I laughed, and I cried when I read FLIRTING WITH FORTY; I rejoiced that the heroine was just so plucky and got through all the difficult times she faced. I think I probably cheered on the last page! I've actually read it twice how, and this book will never lose its place on my keeper shelf.
I love historicals too, and anything Philippa Gregory writes is a must buy for me and always a keeper. THE CONSTANT PRINCESS, THE BOLEYN INHERITANCE - take your pick, all Philippa Gregory's books are of the same incredibly high standard. I love this author's writing, both for the colourful way she depicts the lives and times of her characters, and also for the sheer entertainment value.
Thank you for allowing me to share some of my greatest reading pleasures, Lee.

The author I discovered this year - and put on my auto-buy list - is Tara Janzen. Tara’s Crazy series, beginning with CRAZY HOT, kept me riveted. The books are action-packed with hot romance and fast-paced dialogue. It’s obvious how well the author knows her subject matter (fast cars) which always pulls me in – the cars become part of the story, a fascinating part, even for someone like me who knows next to nothing about vintage cars and their inner workings. Her heroes are former bad boys who are still bad in so many ways even though they’re on the right side of the law. Although I’ve read her series in order, the books are definitely stand-alones in their own right.

When I'm writing, I often don't get much time to read so I often stick to tried and tested authors, ones I've read before and who I know will give me reader satisfaction in the little time I have to spare - authors like Michelle Reid, Anne McAllister, Liz Fielding.
But just recently I ran a special Christmas contest to give away a Christmas Stocking stuffed with books - and every author who contributed to that was kind enough to give me a copy of their book too. This way I was lucky enough to get tasters of some new authors in several lines of category romance - some of whom have just had their very first books published.
Two of these are Irish authors - Abby Green has her very first Presenst book out in April 2007 andshe's had a great debut with CHOSEN AS THE FRENCHMAN'S BRIDE. But I was also lucky enough to be given a copy of her second title - THE BRAZILIAN'S BLACKMAIL BARGAIN, and once I'd opened it I didn't want to put it down.
The other Irish author is Trish Wylie - she writes for Harlequin Romance but she has also written a couple of titles for the line sold her in the UK as Modern Extra (formerly Temptation). Her sexy firefighter hero in WHITE-HOT is a real delilght and her next 'Mod X' BREATHLESS looks set to live up to its name.
In the Harlequin Historical line I really fell for Nicola Cornick's LORD GREVILLE'S CAPTIVE - after all who could resist a book that the author has nicknamed 'Cavalier in Bondage'?
And last but not least I have to mention Natasha Oakley. This author isn't new to me - I've known hwe since before she was published when I critiqued her work as part of the Romantic Novelists' Association's New Writers' Scheme. I've been thrilled to watch her grow from someone learning to write, thorough her very first publication to the way that she's now earning a reputation for heart-tugging, emotional stories with books like ACCEPTING THE BOSS'S PROPOSAL. All of these authors have now been added to my personal list of favourites.
