The Viewpoint

Put a bunch of readers in the same room and you're likely to hear all about what they've read recently or what's next in their tote bag or to-be-read pile. That's the thing about readers. We're all eager to talk about books and we'll drag the topic into a conversation with anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Nothing gives us more pleasure than discussing why a novel worked for us or why it didn't. We love to give our opinion on books, both new and old, that touch our hearts, inspire us or even those that leave us unsatisfied.

I hope you enjoy browsing and perhaps you'll find something that keeps you coming back for more.

Spotlight

Never chase men or buses.

Don't let yourself be seen in a truck in town.

These are the simple rules passed down through generations of Camellias, one of the oldest debutante societies in Charleston. Sarah Walters is a member of this antiquated club—whether she likes it or not. The society is a privilege one is born to, and it offers rules of ettiquette meant to prepare a girl for a charmed life with an appropirate husband. The only problem is, Sarah has a tendency to make life choices that are anything but polite. With biting humor and keen observation, Katie Crouch takes Sarah from a sweaty-palmed eighth grader at Cotillion dancing lessons to a slightly numb thirty-five-year-old living in New York City. It takes a strange turn of events to make Sarah realize that as much as se tries to deny it, where she comes from will always affect where she ends up.
